He was born on February 12, 1949 to Dorothy (Boydsten) Buttner at home in Seneca, KS. Ed attended Seneca Grade School until the 8th grade, and was later drafted into the U.S. Army on December 26, 1969. He served as a heavy vehicle driver in Vietnam and Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon re
