Lawrence T. Blanton, Jr., 54, of Fairview, died early Tuesday morning, March 20, 2012, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.
Memorial services will be at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Hiawatha, at 7 p.m. Friday, March 23, with Pastor Don Goatley officiating. Cremation will follow services with inurnment to follow at a later date.

Lawrence was born at Houston, Texas, May 19, 1957, one of four children of Lawrence Sr. and Jeanette Hardin Blanton. He grew up in Houston where he attended school. When Lawrence was 18, he joined the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany for nearly 4 years prior to being stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas until discharged in 1983, at the rank of E-4. Lawrence worked as a welder at Alamo Group in Holton for four years. He returned to Texas and worked for a lady who operated a lawn service. Lawrence moved to Hiawatha to live until about three years ago when he moved to Fairview.
Lawrence was raised in the Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, both while living in Texas and Kansas.
His wife is Betty Garrison Blanton. Their made their home together for 18 years before being married June 28, 2011 at Holton. She survives.
Also surviving are her two daughters Betty D. Smith of Circleville, Tammy Spicer of Fairview, a brother Luke Blanton; two sisters: Carolyn Walters, Laura Williams, all of who live in Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant son.
