Paul Henry Schowengerdt, 93, formerly of Reserve and Hiawatha, died Tuesday morning, September 16, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Paul was born in Reserve on December 15, 1920, to Ben and Clara Ploeger Schowengerdt. His brother Dale and sister Opal predeceased him; his brother Dean lives in Wamego. Paul graduated from Reserve High School in 1938. In 1943, he married Geraldine Jones, who died in 2004. He sold cream from a herd of Holstein dairy cows until 1965 and farmed near Reserve until he moved to Newton. He returned to Brown County and lived in Hiawatha until 2002, when he moved to Sabetha. He was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Reserve and later, of Falls City, Nebraska.

He is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Huyett of Camano Island, Washington; Ann Lano of Ellicott City, Maryland; and Joyce Schowengerdt of Point Arena, California; four grandsons and one granddaughter; and five great-grandsons.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. with the memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
