William K. “Bill” Kilander , 67, of Atchison, KS. died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS  unexpectedly.

 A Memorial Life Celebration Service will be 11:00 am on Friday, Oct. 24th, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev .Jeff Cochran officiating. The body has been cremated and burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the University of Kansas Cancer Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences’ to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Bill was born on March 4, 1947 in Detroit, MI the son of A. Keith and Lois E. (Hutchins) Kilander. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1965 and attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence for two years before joining the United States Army.  He returned home following his tour with the Army and worked as a switchman for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad. Bill worked for over 42 years retiring as yardmaster with the Union –Pacific Railroad. He was a Presbyterian, a member of the V.F.W. Post # 1175, and American Legion Post #6, Atchison and the Elks. Bill enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling, reading, golfing and boating. He was a collector and enjoyed giving unique gifts to family and friends.

Survivors include his life partner and companion, Linda Blagg, of the home, two nieces; Amy (Greg) Moore, Bixby, OK. and Shelley (Jeff) Logan, Dallas TX, one great niece and four great nephews. His parents and brother David Kilander preceded him in death.
