Maxine Jeannette (Stowell) Bramhall
Vermillion , KS

Maxine Jeannette (Stowell) Bramhall, age 83, of Vermillion, Kansas died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia, Kansas. 

She was born September 17, 1928 the daughter of Delbert and Hazel (Bishop) Stowell north of Vermillion at Harve and Emma Bishop (her grandparents’ home).  Maxine attended Fairview Grade School for one year and after moving to Vermillion she attended the Domer Grade School for seven years.  She graduated from Vermillion High School in 1947.  Maxine attended summer school at Kansas State University and received her teaching certificate.  Her first teaching job was in Vliets where she taught for one year.  Maxine and her twin sister Twyla were asked to take a teaching position at Home City.  Maxine taught the first four grades while Twyla taught the upper grades. 

On June 11, 1950 Maxine married her high school sweetheart, Johnny Bramhall.  They moved to Fairbury, Nebraska for seven months and then returned to Vermillion to farm.  Maxine joined the Vermillion Christian Church in 1951.  She was active in the church and taught Sunday school for many years.  Maxine loved to farm with Johnny and enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Bramhall, October 2, 1955; a daughter, Janie Faye Bramhall, August 10,  1974; twin sister, Twyla Gaston, Feb 7, 2010.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Johnny Bramhall of the home;  three sons, Kim Bramhall and Keith Bramhall, both of Vermillion and Kerry Bramhall of Seneca;  two brothers, Max Stowell of Marysville and Kent Stowell of Vliets; a sister, Marlene Gustin of Home City, and six grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Vermillion Christian Church.  Virgil Warren will conduct the service.  Ruth Ann Warren and Ginny Spena will play the organ.  Virgil Warren will play “The Lord’s Prayer” on guitar.  Casket bearers will be Kim Bramhall, Keith Bramhall, Kerry Bramhall, Anthony Bramhall, Patrick Bramhall, and Braden Bramhall.  Honorary casket bearers will be Rex Flentie, Elton Spena, Ginny Spena, Rita Kramer, Faye Bramhall, Harlan Johnson, Joyce Johnson, Leonard Akin, and Vivian Akin.  Visitation will be Friday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 814 Castle, Seneca, KS 66538. Online condolences may be left for the family at
