Mitchell "Gus" A. Hermreck
Onaga, KS


ONAGA – Mitchell A. “Gus” Hermreck, 15, of Onaga, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Community Hospital in Onaga.

He was born October 14, 1996, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Dennis and Ann McNally Hermreck.

Mitch was a freshman at Onaga High School where he was a member of the Future Famers of America, participated in basketball and football, sang in the choir, and was on the honor roll. He also played summer baseball and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Ann Hermreck, Onaga; two sisters, Shelby Hermreck, Emporia, and Raegan Hermreck, of the home, and grandmothers, Verlene McNally, Onaga, and Twila Hermreck, Garnett.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Don McNally and Gus Hermreck, and uncles, Gary Hermreck and Dave Rayl.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16th, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in the Coal Creek Community, north of Onaga. Mitch will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. Monday until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. He will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation.
