James Roland Hawley, 87, of Wetmore, KS passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born February 3, 1929 in Goff, KS the son of Archie James and Grace Mae (Porter) Hawley.

James graduated from Wetmore High School in 1947. He was a member of the Wetmore community since 1945. James owned and operated McDaniel/Hawley Motors in Wetmore for over 45 years. He was a member of Wetmore Lion’s Club.

James married Nell L. McDaniel on April 14, 1948 in Wetmore. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2015.

Survivors include his son, Russell G. Hawley (D.J.) of Wetmore, KS; his daughter, Violet Hintzman (David) of Menomonie, WI; a grandson, Dana Bahnsen of Milwaukee, WI a sister, Joyce Roush (Marvin) of Topeka and a brother, Lloyd “Punk” Hawley of Council Bluffs, IA.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
