Alice Lorraine Braasch

Alice Lorraine Braasch, 93, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Atchison Senior Village, in Atchison, KS.  A visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the United Methodist Church of Weston, MO; followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service, at the church.  Inurnment will be at a later date in the Forrest Lawn Cemetery, in Omaha, NE.  The family suggests contributions be given to:  United Methodist Church of Weston, MO.  Alice was born March 2, 1919 in Omaha, NE to Ivar and Edythe (Sanderholm) Anderson.  She was raised in the Omaha area.  Alice married Bernard W. Braasch on September 16, 1939 in Omaha.  In their 54 years of marriage, Alice and Bernie raised their children in Omaha, then spent 10 years in Wichita, KS and 14 years in Austin, TX enjoying the weather and golfing.  Following Bernie’s death in 1993, she moved to Weston to be near her daughter and her family.  In Weston she made a new life for herself, becoming active in the Swamp Club, Sew and Sew, and the church.  Her strong faith served her throughout her life.  Her favorite scripture was, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, Phil. 4:13.  She continued to volunteer for the church well into her 80s.  Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Braasch; a daughter Julie Braasch; her brother Howard; her sister Doris; and a granddaughter Ali Strickland.  She is survived by: her son Gary Braasch of Portland, OR; her daughter Peggy Strickland, and her husband Rogers, of Weston; and her grandchildren, Jennifer, and her husband Jesse, Nathan, Daniel, and Cedar.  Alice was a friend to all, always positive, always optimistic.  Her sweet spirit will be greatly missed.  Arrangements By:  Vaughn Funeral Home—Weston, MO—Ph. 816-386-2281.
