Mildred " Nadine" Stephenson

Mildred “Nadine” Stephenson, 89, of Holton, KS passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital. She was born September 24, 1927 in Archie, MO the daughter of Earnest L. and Sarah E. (Duncan) Hawkins.

Nadine graduated in 1945 from high school in Harrisonville, MO. She had lived in Holton since 1958 and previously in Harrisonville, MO, Carthage, MO and Topeka, KS. Nadine had worked 8 years in banking at Carthage, MO and Topeka, KS. She also, along with her husband, owned and operated Stephenson Gift Shop and Stephenson Paint Store for 29 years in Holton.

 She was a member of the First Christian Church, All Star Club and Holton Hospital Auxiliary. She was past member of Order of Eastern Star and past president and member of Holton Business Women.

Nadine married Homer Dean “Steve” Stephenson on August 4, 1946 in Harrisonville, MO. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy E. Ellett and 2 brothers, Paul and James Hawkins.

 Survivors include a son, Jeffrey L. “Jeff” Stephenson of Santa Fe, NM and many nieces and nephews.

 Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
