William " Bill" King

William M. “Bill” King, 68, Valley Falls, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at his home.

He was born Feb. 6, 1949, at Topeka, the son of Willie M. and Oleta Metzger  King. He graduated from Nortonville High School in 1967.

Bill served with the US Navy Seabees in Vietnam as a Construction Electrician Petty Officer 3rd Class. He worked as a telephone repairman for 39 years and was employed by Embarq, Sprint, United, Northern and Continental phone companies. He owned and operated Valley Lawn and Garden in Valley Falls since 2004. He had attended the former Calvary Baptist Church in Ozawkie and was a member of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Valley Falls.

Survivors include three daughters, Gina King, and her husband, Ryan Lammers, Olathe, Traci King, Minneapolis, MN, and Amy King, San Diego, CA; a brother Lewis King, Valley Falls; four sisters, Marsha Weishaar and Judy Keirns, both of Nortonville, Darla Kramer, Carbondale, LeaAnn Schrick, Apex, NC; and two grandchildren, Jayden and Jordan.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Vickie Burk.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial with military honors by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 V.F.W. will be at the Ozawkie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.
