William Arthur Willis

William Arthur Willis, 94, of Horton, passed away on May 31, 2017 at the Horton Community Hospital.

Bill was born on August 28, 1922 in Horton, Kansas the son of Carl W. and Leona Gram Willis. He was raised on the farm homesteaded by his great grandfather in 1859. He shared many memories of growing up and riding his horse around the farm which he later purchased. After high school he served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Bill later worked as a mechanic, truck driver and heavy equipment operator. His main interest was farming and continued to manage the farm until he became ill.

He married Rose Marie Schaefer on November 30, 1949. She survives of the home. Also he is survived by daughter, Michele (Tim) McClaskey, grandchildren Elizabeth, Andrew and Christopher McClaskey. His foster sons, Paul (Lisa) Wenger, David (Trudi) Wenger and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, Barbara and Beverly, brother, Carl S. and Robert F. Willis.

The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the Horton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Horton EMS and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
