Leonard Paul Fangman, 83, Topeka, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017.

Leonard was born on December 30, 1933, in St. Benedict KS, the son of Paul and Florence Stallbaumer Fangman. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. On November 12, 1960, Leonard Fangman and Mary Kay Strathman were united in marriage, enjoying 48 years together. Mary preceded him in death on December 22, 2008. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad as a Carman.

Leonard was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4254 and Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, where he was an active volunteer. He enjoyed fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Leonard was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Grateful to have shared his life are his children, Larry Fangman (Kristy), Topeka, Teresa Stallbaumer (Lynn), Sabetha, James Fangman (Brenda), Douglasville GA, Darren Fangman (Susan) and David Fangman, both of Topeka; ten grandchildren; brothers, Charles, Elmer, John and Lester Fangman; sisters, Janie Werner and Sr. Esther Fangman, OSB.

Leonard was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Haug and brother, Gilbert Fangman.

Family will greet friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Most Pure Heart of Mary Church or to the Northeast Kansas Parkinson Association, sent in care of the funeral home.
