Donna M. Cockerham, 65, of Verdon, NE, passed away July 16, 2017 at Falls City, NE. She was born November 17, 1951 at Norfolk, VA to James and Luella (Fiene) Cummins.

On October 7, 1970 she married James A. cockerham at Verdon, NE. They established their home in Verdon where they could raise their own family in a small town.

As a young child of a Navy serviceman, Donna lived in various states until the family settled in Verdon in 1957. She enjoyed growing up in the small town environment and graduated Dawson-Verdon High School in 1969. Then attended Methodist Medical Center School of Nursing at St. Joseph, MO and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1973.

She was employed at what is now the Community Medical Center since 1972 and she enjoyed participating in the challenge of the ever changing practice of nursing. She attended Grace Bible Fellowship Church at Stella, NE.

Donna is survived by her husband, Jim of Verdon, daughters, Kristi Schafersman and her husband Sheldon of Hooper, NE, Jamie Koch and her husband Bill of Dawson, NE, mother, Luella Cummins of Falls City, brothers, Dennis Cummins and his wife Viola of San Diego, CA, Bill Cummins and his wife Valanda of Lowell, AR, Terry Cummins and his wife Dana of Verdon, sister, Linda Blakley and her husband Reford of Blackwell, OK, grandchildren, Gretchen Barber, Ava & McKenna Schafersman, Levi and Jonathan Koch. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Bob Cummins.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor David Lockard officiating. Inurnment will be in Verdon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
