Hiawatha, KS

ELIZABETH ANN ‘CURLY’ HARMON, 54, of Hiawatha, died late Sunday evening, July 23, 2017, at Mosiac Life Care Center, in St. Joseph, MO.

Curly…is ALL she has ever been known by, was born at Temple Hospital, Los Angeles, California, June 5, 1963, the daughter of Marshall Theodore and Delia Teresa Davila Harmon and moved with her family to Tarkio, Missouri when she was 5.  She grew up at Tarkio, attended school there where she later graduated high school with the class of 1981.  Curly spent most of her life at Hiawatha where she worked as a cook and baker at Dave’s IGA and the family restaurant, Maple Leaf, prior to babysitting a number children for area families.

Curly was a Christian, was generous, with a ‘larger than life’ personality.  To say she enjoyed kids was an understatement!

Survivors include her life partner Larry Schofield of the home; her mother Delia Harmon McNulty, also of Hiawatha; a brother Phillip E. Harmon, II, of Topeka; a sister Mary Teresa Atlakson, also of Hiawatha; with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Curly was preceded in death by her father Marshall Harmon February of 1996; and step-father William McNulty September of 2013.

A Celebration of Curly’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor James Callaway officiating.  Cremation will follow service with inurnment service to be held at Claytonville Cemetery, south of Hiawatha, at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5.

The family will meet with friends one hour prior to service Thursday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., 66434. www.chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
