Bernice Lucille Jones, 96, of Holton, KS passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Medicalodges Jackson County. She was born February 5, 1921 in Soldier, KS the daughter of Charles and Dolly (Murphy) Kranz.

Bernice was awarded her G.E.D. and attended Soldier schools. She was a life-long member of the Jackson County community. Bernice began her career at Slimaker Dress Factory and later worked as a CNA & CMA at Jackson County Nursing Home (currently named Medicalodges Jackson County), retiring after 25 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and volunteering at Head Start in Holton, KS. Bernice was a member of the Holton First Baptist Church.

 Bernice married Willis Jones on December 12, 1942. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1973. She later married Oliver R. Jones on January 25, 1975. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2001.

Survivors include 2 stepdaughters, Jean Brewer of Ontario, OR and Darlene Wade of Fruitland, ID; 4 grandchildren, Jeff Sanchez (Shelly) and Lisa Dodson (Tim), both of Kearney, MO, Tammy Sanchez of Lawrence, KS, and Julie Gregory (Scott) of Linwood, KS; 9 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marylou Sanchez in 2011; a son, Ronald A. Jones in 2012 and 2 step-daughters, Shirley Fellman and Donna Cook. 

 Memorial Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. A private family Inurnment will be in the Holton Cemetery.
