Erma Wiltz

Erma Ione (Keim) Wiltz, 88, of Sabetha, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Sabetha Community Hospital.

Erma was born on October 28, 1928 in Brown County, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude Keim. She attended area schools and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1946. She worked at several Sabetha retail stores and retired from Country Mart after 24 years of service. Always wanting to be helpful to friends and family, upon retirement, she spent many years as a volunteer at Sabetha Manor and Cobblestone retirement homes. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Erma married Leo Wiltz on September 1, 1948, settling in Sabetha and raising four children.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Gerald and Lloyd Keim: and cousin, Dorothy Reuhlen, who was raised as a sister. Also preceding her were granddaughter, Jessica Dechant and great-grandchildren, Ryder Dechant and Mya Young.

She is survived by her children, Richard (JoAnn) of Chicago, Susan (Jeff) Allen of Shawnee, Ks., Martin (Darnelle) and Galen (Jolene) of Sabetha. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Matthew, Phillip, Tori Skinner, Jon, and Tyesha Allen, Adam, Erin, and Austin Wiltz, and Melanie Wiltz and Cassie Hefley, along with four great- grandchildren: Joseph Dechant, Mariena Allen, Kieren Hefley, and Samuel Skinner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2017 at Popkess Mortuary. Interment will be made at the Sabetha Cemetery.
