Larry Drimmel, 71, of Effingham, Kansas, died Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the University of Kansas Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, September 4, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Ann’s Church with Rev. Benjamin Tremmel, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. A parish and Knight’s of Columbus rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 6:30 P.M. at St. Ann’s Church with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to MidAmerica Heart or St. Ann’s Church and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Larry was born December 19, 1945 the son of Ronald and Alice Banker Drimmel. He attended a one room school house in Monrovia then St. Ann’s Elementary School in Effingham, graduating from Maur Hill Prep School in Atchison, Kansas.

He served in management in various companies and then became employed at MGP Products Company where he held many different positions from 1973 until his retirement after thirty-five years in 2008. Additionally he enjoyed hay season and raising black Hereford cattle.

He and the former Donna Myers were united in marriage on January 14, 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Atchison, Kansas.

Larry was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Effingham, Kansas and a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #10321 in Effingham. In his spare time he enjoyed watching football and especially enjoyed the time he could spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Donna, of the couple’s home in Effingham; his children, Scott & Michelle Drimmel, Atchison, KS; Michael Drimmel, Atchison, KS; Andrea & Dennis Hiner, Garnett, KS; Daniel & Susanne Drimmel, Larned, KS; Amelia & Stub Cluck, Lancaster, KS; Rick & Debbie Thomas, Atchison, KS; Pam & Todd Reno, Atchison, KS; Liz Billings, Atchison, KS; Lori Kearney, Atchison, KS; twenty eight grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren, brother’s Ronald & Shirley Drimmel, South Dakota; Stan & Cindy Drimmel, Lancaster, KS; Phil & Joanie Drimmel, Lancaster, KS; a sister, Betty & Jim Jensen, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
