Myra Jean Rogers, 88, of Holton, KS, passed away October 5, 2017 at Sabetha Hospital.

She was born September 6, 1929 in Clifton, KS the daughter of Farrell Otis and Frances Rose (Benneychek) Rains.

Myra graduated from high school and had lived most of her life in Jackson County; she had also lived in Seneca for a few years. She worked for Slimaker Dress Factory, was a farmwife and provided “in home” care for her clients. A “job” that was very special to Myra was being a Foster Grandma for Nekcap in Holton.

She was a member of the Holton V.F.W. Auxiliary; she helped to insure the flags were present at the cemetery. In the early 1960’s she also was a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. Myra married Byron Brooks in 1949 at Dodge City, KS; he preceded her in death in 1962.

She married Cecil Rogers on June 20, 1969 in Albuquerque, NM; he preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by 3 sons, Scott Brooks, Bob Rogers and Ronald Rogers and a brother, Vance Rains.

Survivors include her children, Marcia Clark (Albert “Butch”) of Seneca, KS, Carol Hards (Ronald) of Holton, KS, Lorraine Lauderdale (Mike) of Wichita, KS, Gregory Rogers (Debra) of Osceola, IA and Jeff Rogers (Erica Noffsinger) of Meriden, KS;18 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
