Maurice Ernest Rice, 92, of Emmett, KS, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at Onaga Health and Rehabilitation. He was born December 8, 1924 in Delphos, KS the son of Murry E. and Everine (Carls) Rice.

Maurice lived most of his life in Emmett as a farmer and stockman.

He married Fern H. Hinkle on October 10, 1954 in Parsons, KS. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2012. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Rice; daughter-in-law, Sondra Rice; 2 sisters, Florence Bottom and Maurine Settles and a brother, William Rice.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jerry Rice of Bern, KS and Ernest Rice (Penny) of Havensville, KS; daughter-in-law, Katrina Rice of Topeka; brother, Louis Rice of Havensville, KS;10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the St. Clere Cemetery.
