Richard Erhart
Winchester , KS

Richard Wayne Erhart, 65, of Winchester, Kansas passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, doing what he loved best; working on the farm.

Richard was born on September 7, 1952, the son of Donald Wayne and Teresa Marie (Herbers) Erhart. He attended school in Winchester and graduated from Jefferson County North High School in 1970. He attended Vo-Tech school in Atchison graduating in auto mechanics.

Richard and Roseanna Wheatley were married on November 8, 1986 in Winchester. Roseanna survives at the home.

Survivors include his wife (Roseanna) and 5 children; Donald Erhart (Katie), Staff Sergeant, US Army stationed at Fort Riley, Robert Erhart and Melody Erhart, Valley Falls, David Erhart, Topeka and Joseph Erhart, Winchester. Richard’s pride and joy besides his wife and five children were his two grandchildren; Emma and Adien.

Additional survivors include four brothers; Kenneth (Trudy), Alvin (Denise), Charles (Pam), Dale (Tammy) and two sisters; Mary Underwood (Steve) and Alice Henning (Mike).

He is proceeded in death by his parents; Donald Erhart (’83) and Teresa Erhart (’04).

Richard’s passions were mechanical work and farming. He ran a mechanical shop in Winchester for several years. After closing the shop in town he was employed with Sedlak Farms and had been there for 30+ years. Richard could always be found working on vehicles or out on the farm.

Richard spent his spare time spoiling his two grandchildren and teaching them how to be “farm kids.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Winchester United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on January 6th. Lunch will follow at the Winchester Community Building. A private family burial at Spring Grove Cemetery will be held following the luncheon.
