Galen Weiland, of Bendena, passed away January 10, 2018, at Mosiac Health Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Galen Franklin Weiland was born August 13, 1939 to Frank and Lucille (Dunn) Weiland in Highland, KS.
 
Galen attended Highland High School and Highland Community College.  He married Ruth Long on June 4, 1960.  They moved to Bendena, KS in 1963.  Galen was dedicated to the success of his Bendena Community and to Doniphan County:

He is preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Lucille, brother, James Allen D., sisters, Marsha Simpson, Paulette (Paul) Staudenmaier, Sherrie Lou (Curt) Mattox, niece, Lori Mattox, nephew, Jason Stonebarger and grandson: James Frances Weiland.
 
Survivors include wife Ruth, son Terry (Lisa) Weiland, Bendena, daughter Teresa Weiland, Palm Harbor, FL, Sister, Jody Keebler, Highland, KS, granddaughter Terra (Matt) Jones, Topeka, KS, grandson, Cody (Silvia) Weiland, Bendena, KS, granddaughter, Bereanna Weiland, Bendena, KS, great-grandson, Carter Weiland, Bendena, KS and numerous nieces and nephews

A Celebration of Galen’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, January 15, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland, with Don Harter officiating.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
