Jean Bailey, 66 of Atchison, KS passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at her residence.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Atchison United Methodist Church, with Rev. Nancy J Kollhoff, officiating.  Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date in Round Prairie Cemetery, Atchison, KS.  Family will receive friends prior to from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Church.  Memorials are suggested to Atchison United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Jean was born May 17, 1951, in Leavenworth, KS the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Hundley) Bailey.  She returned to Atchison in 1957 and graduated from Atchison High School, and was active in the marching band.  She attended the University of Kansas and Emporia State University having earned two masters in reading and library science.  Jean worked for Atchison Unified School District as a reading specialist and librarian for more than forty years and the Cray Museum in the gift shop.  She was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, and several Atchison bell choirs, the KU Alumni Association and a lifetime member of the Sierra Club.

Survivors include a brother Lawrance and his wife Joyce Bailey, San Diego, CA, an aunt, Ethel Hundley, Atchison, KS, two nieces, Mary and Paulina Bailey, San Diego, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
