Mary Jo A. Foster, 66, of Atchison, Kansas passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, Missouri. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the services, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary Jo was born on December 29, 1951 in Atchison, Kansas the daughter of Jerry D. and Mary Lou (Lobaugh) Turpin. She attended public schools in Atchison, graduating from Atchison High School in 1970.

She married Jimmy Carl Foster in 1970 and were later divorced.

Mary Jo formerly worked at Jerry’s Restaurant for two years and then served in the kitchen at Valley Hope in Atchison from 1990 until 1998.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Atchison. She enjoyed adult coloring books and most especially cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy A. Thummel, Atchison, KS, a son, John D. Foster, Claremore, OK, two sisters, Tina Owens, Atchison, KS, Brenda (Duane) Myers, Rushville, MO, four grandchildren, Samantha (Nathan) Harlow, Justin (Kieran) Foster, Chelsea (Jordan) Thummel, Destiny Thummel, and four great grandchildren, Brayten Bush, Braylee Bush, Brantley Foster and Scarlett Oberlender.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Lee Turpin, a sister, Donna Lynn Lobaugh and a son-in-law, Dennis Joseph Thummel.
