Lloyd E. Wilhelm, 89, of Verdon, NE, passed away February 2, 2018 at Falls City, NE. He was born October 13, 1928 at Verdon to Karl and Bertha (Becker) Wilhelm.

On July 21, 1956 he married Shirley Zimmerman.

Lloyd attended Verdon School and then helped his father farm in rural Verdon. He then became employed at the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a trackman from 1947 until 1951. He then enlisted in the U. S. Army on February 21, 1951 and was honorably discharged on February 2, 1953 and then served in the Army Reserve from February 3, 1953 to April 4, 1957. Upon his return he became employed at Millworks and Woodings Verona in Falls City. He retired from Woodings Verona. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at Verdon.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Shirley of Verdon, children, Patricia Rash and her husband Ron of Morrill, KS, Michael of Verdon, Bonnie Muse and her husband Billy of Humboldt, NE, Bert Cochran and her husband Dan of Bloomington, IL and Connie Wilhelm of Normal, IL, grandchildren, Wade Lowe, Derek Cochran, Michelle Cochran and a great-grandchild, Arrison Lowe. He was preceded in death by by his parents, brother, Kenneth, sisters, Bessie Gilfillan and Martha Hollens.

The last few years Lloyd was a resident at Falls City Nursing & Rehab where he could often be found sitting silently in his room watching birds gather at the feeder outside his window.  Lloyd’s family would like to thank the staff at Falls City Nursing & Rehab for their loving and personal care provided to Lloyd during the final years of his life. The family is also very appreciative of the compassion extended by AseraCare Hospice. 

Lloyd was a man of few words who often sat outside in quiet solitude on warm summer days for hours at time.  Staying true to his quiet demeanor and personality, Lloyd requested to be cremated with no service to be held.
