Rebecca “Becky” Sue Gerdes

Rebecca “Becky” Sue Gerdes, 67, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on March 16, 1950, in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  She graduated from Hastings High School in 1968.  Throughout the years, Becky worked in the food services industries.  She owned “B’s Camp,” co-owned “Mom’s Café,” kitchen manager for Southeast Consolidated School, and managed the Harvey-Mann Legion Club Post #269 in Humboldt where she was also an active member of the Legion Auxiliary.

On March 16, 1984, Becky found the love of her life and married Loren Gerdes at The Christian Church in Beatrice, Nebraska.  The couple moved to Humboldt and were married 24 years until Loren’s passing in 2008.  Becky enjoyed cooking, playing pool, darts, going to the casino, playing cards, and crocheting.  But most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and friends.  Becky passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of sixty-seven years, ten months, and thirteen days.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband Loren Gerdes, mother Eunice (Harshbarger) Beem, her father C.E. “Slim” Beem, mother-in-law Dorothy Gerdes, a sister Dixie Hager, nephew Darren Hager, brothers-in-law: Tim Hergenrader and Ronald Hager, and sister-in-law Carol Duff.

Becky is survived by her children: Scott (Terri) Otto of Humboldt, NE; Angelia (Thomas) Lazarski of Middletown, MD; Wendy Williamson of Hastings, NE; 5 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; brothers: Lyle (Denise) Amos of Summerville, SC; Ken Duff of Bakersfield, CA; sisters: Diane (Chuck) ConCannon of Haymarket, VA; Harriet Hergenrader of Homer, NE; brother-in-law Gary (Linda) Gerdes of Humboldt, NE; sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Tom) Glathar of Lincoln, NE; Donna Donavon of Kansas City, MO; step-mother Jerry Beem of Falls City, NE; step-brothers: Gene Hayes of Phoenix, AZ; Dave Hayes of Buckeye, AZ; Keith (Snooks) Hayes of Falls City, NE; step-sister Sue (Lee) Alders of Kansas City, MO; Mary Jo (Jim) Huettner of Verdon, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.


Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at The Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Inurnment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the wishes of the family with a later designation.
