Dorothy R. Keim Kirkham, 95, Valley Falls, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at her home in Valley Falls. 

Dorothy was born November 13, 1922 on the family farm in rural Ozawkie, the daughter of Alva Morton and Flossie Pearl Kientz Kiem. She was a 1940 graduate of Ozawkie High School. She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife, helping her husband in farming for many years. She had also worked at the former Scott’s Grocery Store in Ozawkie. 

Dorothy was a member of Ozawkie United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of the Church. She was an active member of  Rebekah Lodge #657 in Ozawkie and the Ozawkie High School Alumni Association. She also was a member of a home demonstration unit in Ozawkie and had served as a 4-H leader for the Valley Victors for many years.

She was married to Wilbur Ray Kirkham on October 9, 1954 in Ozawkie, he preceded her in death on January 24, 1996. 

She is lovingly survived by three sons, Dale (Nancy) Kirkham, Eureka, Kenneth (JoElla Palmer-Hill), Strong City, Donnie (Rosie) Kirkham, Marysville, two daughters, Linda (Dennis) Polson, Lebo, and Doreen Smith, Topeka,  25 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren and still growing. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth E. Winter, one brother, Harold Keim and a son-in-law, Jack Smith.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 17 at Ozawkie United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Ozawkie Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, where Dorothy will lie in state after 9:00 AM, Friday at the Funeral Home.
