Richard Marion Lassiter, 82, of Denison, KS passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. He was born August 23, 1935 in Valley Falls, KS the son of Frank Marion and Sarah Elizabeth (Boydston) Lassiter.

Richard graduated from Denison High School in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves from 1958 – 1964 as a military policeman. Richard was a farmer, he worked as a coach carpenter for Santa Fe Railroad, he worked for the State of Kansas for the Fish and Game Department and he also worked for the City of Denison. He attended the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Richard married Rosalie E. Bailey on January 26, 1959 in Paonia, CO; they shared over 60 years of marriage. Rosalie survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Janette “Beth” Lassiter-Smith of Topeka, KS, Richard “Dick” Lassiter (Thresa) of Denison, KS, Keith Lassiter of Denison, KS and Jennifer Ingels (Kevin) of Holton, KS; a brother, Don (Elke) Lassiter of Ozawkie; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded by infant sister, Lida Lassiter and a brother, Francis Lassiter.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
