Ida Marie Boyles

Ida Marie Boyles, 94 of Denison, KS passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Midland Hospice in Topeka, KS. She was born March 11, 1923 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of Henry E. and Grace Laurel (Edison) Anderson.

Ida was a lifelong resident of Denison, KS. Alongside her husband, she owned and operated A & B Market in Denison for 21 years. Ida also worked 7 ½ years as a cashier at Dibbles Stores in Topeka and 6 ½ years for the State of Kansas in the Department of Revenue, reviewing taxes.

She was a member of the Denison Bible Church, OES #488 in Denison and #189 in Hoyt; she served for 60 years; during that time Ida was Worthy Matron 4 times and Grand Officer 3 times. She also was a 15 year member of Garfield Committee Women.

On February 18, 1949 in Fayetteville, AR, Ida was united in marriage to Johnny O. Boyles. They shared over 59 years of marriage before John passed away on July 2, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Mildred Newell and Wilma Kern and her brothers, Stanley and Bob Anderson.

Survivors include her 2 sons, John Dean “J.D.” Boyles (Judy) of Mayetta, KS and Rex Stanley Boyles (Bill) of Topeka, KS; 2 step-daughters, Gayla June McKinsey of Coos Bay, OR and Patty Jane Cummings (Steve) of Redding, CA; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ida had a great love for her family, home and her friends; they were a great part of her life. “God Bless”

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
