Glenn Korthanke

Glenn M. Korthanke passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at the age of 94.  

He was born November 15, 1923 to F.P. and Elizabeth (Lynd) Korthanke in Robinson, KS and had lived in the Robinson-Hiawatha areas all of his life. Glenn graduated from Hiawatha High School with the class of 1942 then continued to farm with his father until he joined the Navy in 1944. After the war he returned to the Robinson area to farm and raise cattle.

He married Bessie Bryant in Wetmore on September 10, 1949. They lived on a farm north of Robinson for many years before moving to Hiawatha.

Glenn enjoyed baseball, hunting, and fishing. After Glenn retired from farming he continued to hunt and fish. He loved his beagles. He also learned to make wine, his favorite being elderberry.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie;  daughter, Connie; and siblings, Robert Korthanke and Dorothy Kennedy.

Glenn is survived by his children, Dennis (LuAnn) Korthanke, Thomas Korthanke, Jere (Joan) Korthanke, and Susan (Duane) Billinger; siblings, Philip Korthanke and Betty Jo Burris; [6] grandchildren; and [13] great-grandchildren.

Glenn has left instructions for his children. He requested a gathering where friends and family can attend, celebrate his life and share their memories. This will be an informal festive gathering from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Friday, March 23, 2018 at The Hiawatha Country Club.
