Alice M. Litherland

Alice M. (Kean) Litherland, 101 years of age, of Falls City, Nebraska passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 in Falls City. She was born on February 19, 1917 in Dawson, Nebraska to Jerry and Florence (Armbruster) Kean. Alice was raised on the family farm and graduated from Dawson High School in 1934. After graduation, she was employed as a legal secretary in Fremont, Nebraska where she met her future and dear husband, Percy “Putt” L. Litherland, married October 5, 1937. In 1951, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. After the passing of Putt, Alice moved to Falls City in 2003. Alice was a very loving mother, wife, and friend to countless individuals that she knew over the years. She was always “there” when her husband and sons needed her for whatever reason. Alice will be greatly missed by all of those she cared so much about. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed knitting, quilting and reading. Alice enjoyed entertaining and conversation with all of those she knew and of course, she always had “a word of advice” for her sons. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City.

Alice is survived by her sons, David and wife Sally of Colorado Springs, James of Falls City, Thomas of Cripple Creek, Colorado; brother, Phil Kean and husband Carol of Dawson, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kelly Gutknecht, John Litherland, both of Colorado Springs, Patricia Litherland of Las Vegas, Nevada; 4 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Putt in 1990; 2 sisters, Mildred and Mary; Barbara (Armbruster) Ramsey, who was raised as family; and 3 brothers, Paul, Michael and Francis.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City with Fr. Thomas Dunavan officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery near Dawson. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of the funeral home.
