JoAnne McClary

JoAnne McClary, 84, formerly of Vermillion, Kansas passed away peacefully on March 28, 2018 at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia, Kansas.

JoAnne was born July 12, 1933 to Perry and Grace Wiseman of Vermillion, Kansas, the youngest of four daughters.

The family lived on a farm while JoAnne attended Vermillion Grade and High School, where she excelled both academically and athletically by participating in women’s basketball. She was married to Harold D. McClary of Centralia, Kansas on November 8th, 1952. JoAnne found much joy and fulfillment serving the community with her husband over the years as they managed the Vermillion State Bank. She also was a very loving and devoted mother of three children, Dirk, Michael and Paula. JoAnne had a variety of interests and hobbies which included cooking, gardening, playing Scrabble and card games, music, and watching and attending sports events. JoAnne was a lifetime member of the Vermillion Christian Church.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband Harold (May 2006); her father, Perry (1950), mother, Grace (1979), step-father, Vern Kimball (1977); sisters, Betty Bullock (2003), and Mary Louise Cain (2004).

Survivors include her three children - Dirk (Charlene) McClary, Michael McClary and Paula (Jay) Thomas all Overland Park, Kansas. Her sister Joyce (Harlan) Johnson of Frankfort, Kansas. Many relatives including, brother-in-law, Dennis (Sharlene) McClary of Loup City, Nebraska, sister-in-law Cheryl (Ron) Larsen of Frankfort, Indiana; step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 2nd at 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, Kansas.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Vermillion Christian Church, to be officiated by Rev. Virgil Warren.

Burial will be at the Vermillion Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in JoAnne’s name to Eastridge Nursing Facility of Centralia, Kansas.
