Elmer Sack

Elmer A. Sack, 94, of Seneca, passed on Easter morning, April 1, 2018, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Elmer was born on September 17, 1923, north of Seneca to Bernard and Anna Mary Waller Sack. Elmer grew up north of Seneca; and attended the Rock Country school just east of from his house.  He graduated from the 8th grade; then attended Sts. Peter and Paul School and graduating from High School. As a young man, he worked on the family farm.  

On April 25, 1953, Elmer married Helen Heinen at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. They would have been married 65 years if Elmer had lived to the 25th of April.

Elmer lived his life on the family farm. Elmer took great pride, making him a great farmer! He raised dairy cattle and hogs; as well as various crops. Elmer was a very hard-working individual. Elmer received the Nemaha County Soil Conservation award and the Goodyear Windbreak award.

Elmer was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, St. Joseph Society and the Seneca Knights of Columbus Council 1769. Elmer enjoyed, playing cards, gardening, cracking and picking out walnuts, bowling and square dancing.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard on February 2, 1968 and Anna on February 12, 1962; brothers, John on February 14, 2005, Wilfred on August 22, 1987; and sisters, Winfred Heinen on February 15, 2008, Helen Hartman in June 2010, Irene Devine in February 1976 and Mary Sack in February 1919.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Helen; two sisters, Margaret Walruff of Kansas City, Missouri and Elaine Feldkamp of Baileyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Rosaries will be at 2 and 7 P.M. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. onWednesday, April 4, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Seneca. Elmer will be laid to rest beside his parents in the Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Seneca, KS.  

Memorials can be given in Elmer’s memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Cemetery, sent in care of the family.
