Wilma Rose Dooley, 84, of Atchison, Kansas died Monday, April 2, 2018 at her home in the Good Intent Community.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Benjamin Tremmel as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. at the church. A parish rosary will be recited at 10:45 a.m. prior to mass. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Louis Church or St. Croix Hospice and may be left with the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom final care has been entrusted. Wilma was born on December 20, 1933 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of William and Cecilia (Schuetz) Sauer. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica in 1952.

She and Thomas Dooley were united in marriage on January 14, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, Kansas. Tom preceded her in death on May 4, 2012.

Wilma was employed with U.S.D. #377 as a bus driver for 30 years.

She was a member of St. Louis Church, the Altar Society of the church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Atchison Elks Lodge as a Lady Elk and a former 4-H Leader.

Wilma loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed her occasional trips to the casino and was known for her ability to entertain anyone at the family farm in the kitchen.

She is survived by her two daughters, Theresa (Tim) Davenport, Atchison, KS, Maureen (Jim) Asher, Atchison, KS, three sons, Dan (Mary) Dooley, Atchison, KS, Mike (Michele) Dooley, Terrell, NC, Tom (Laura) Dooley, Pinson, AL, a sister, Mary Ann Krier, Effingham, KS, a brother, George Sauer, Topeka, KS, thirteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Dooley, a son, Patrick B. Dooley, two grandchildren, Corey Dooley, Thomas Dooley and a brother Robert Sauer.
