Billy Lee “Bill” Sauvage, 83, of Linn, KS, formerly of Havensville, KS passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Linn County Nursing Home. He was born June 1, 1934 in Emmett, KS, the son of Carl Charles and Nellie “Mae” (Day) Sauvage.

Bill lived most of his life in Havensville, Emmett and St. Clere. He attended Holton and Havensville schools. Bill proudly served in the United States Navy, during Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Onaga American Legion Post #85.

In early years, Bill worked for Sauvage Oil in Oberlin, KS and Pontiac garage in Benkelman, NE. After moving back to Havensville, he was a heavy equipment operator for his brother-in-law at Myers Construction and also worked for McDonald Construction. Bill retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 20 years of service.

Bill married Rosemary “Peach” McEvoy on September 6, 1957 in McCook, NE, they later divorced. Peach preceded him in death on July 15, 2006. He married Betty Tarvin, they later divorced. Betty preceded him in death on June 11, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Linneman and a brother, Harvey P. Sauvage.

Survivors include 2 sons, Charlie Sauvage (Mary Ann) of Clifton, KS and Chris Sauvage of Havensville, KS; a daughter, Rhonda Linnemann of Clifton, KS; a sister, Betty Myers of Havensville, KS; a brother, Carl Eugene “Gene” Sauvage of Havensville, KS and 4 grandchildren, Melinda Sauvage, Kyle Linnemann, Chris Linnemann and Amber Baker.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Havensville Cemetery. Bill will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Sunday afternoon.
