Dorr and Clark Funeral Home of Falls City
Sabetha, Formerly of Falls City , NE

Clemma Shafer, 93, of Sabetha, KS (formerly of Falls City, NE), passed away April 7, 2018 at Sabetha. She was born August 29, 1924 at Northboro, IA to Jesse and Gertrude (Russell) Yocum.

She married Edwin Shafer on January 2, 1945 at Hiawatha, KS. He passed away January 14, 1998.

Clemma was reared in many towns and graduated Burlington Junction High School in 1942. When married the couple lived various places in the United States due to her husband's work as a boilermaker. A majority of the time they lived in Michigan. In 1959 they moved to Shubert where they owned the Skelly Gas station. Many days were spent running the station while her husband was out helping farmers.  In 1973 she became a homemaker while she traveled with her husband as he resumed doing work as a boilermaker. He retired in 1985 and they moved into Falls City. She moved to Sabetha in February of 2018 to be near her son Eddie and wife Linda. She was a member of Church of Christ at Falls City NE until she moved to Sabetha, KS.

She loved taking pictures of everyone and everything even if she didn’t know you.  She’d take the photo and have triple prints made. One for her. One for the person she photographed. And one just in case.

She enjoyed fishing. If there were water and a fishing pole nearby, it was likely you could find her there in her spare time.

Another project she enjoyed was making soft baby books for any newborn she ran across.

Clemma is survived by her sons, Eddie and his wife Linda of Sabetha, John and his wife Linda of Kearney, five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson and two brothers.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Jack Williams officiating. Interment will be in Harris Cemetery.

Open visitation and viewing will begin on Wednesday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
