Alice Clare McMaster

Alice Clare McMaster, 80, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Holton, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, KS. She was born May 9, 1937 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of William H. and Alice Barbara (Kirkendall) Massey.

          Alice graduated from Seaman High School in 1955. She attended nursing school at Kaw Area Vo-Tech in Topeka, graduating with her Registered Nurse Degree. Alice started working for V.A. Hospital in Topeka as a LPN beginning in 1979. She later earned her RN and retired after 30 years. She was a member of Nurses Union NOVA.

          Alice married Bennie Ray McMaster on November 23, 1955 in Topeka. He preceded her in death in 2003; after 48 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Pamela Kay McMaster; twin granddaughters, Sydney and Shelby McMaster; 3 sisters, Evelyn Burgess, Patty Smith and Mildred Massey; 2 brothers, Robert Massey and Fred Massey and a step-brother, Jim Sharp.

          Survivors include a daughter, Angie Carlson (Bob) of Topeka, KS; a son, Donnie McMaster (Cynthia) of Meriden, KS; a brother, Herb Massey (Glenda) of Topeka, KS; 2 brothers-in-law, Larry Smith and Robert Burgess both of Overbrook, KS; a sister-in-law, Pat Massey of Topeka, KS; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one “on the way” and many loving nieces and nephews.

          Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery.
