Theodore “Ted” Kelly, 83, Atchison, Kansas, died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at his residence.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Benedict Church with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Benedictine College Football program and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.  Memories and condolences to the family may be shared at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Ted was born August 20, 1934, in Atchison, Kansas the son of John James and Hattie (Huston) Kelly.  He attended Lincoln School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1953. Following graduation he attended St. Benedicts College graduating in 1957, and completed his Master’s work at Kansas State University.  Ted was an avid sports enthusiast, he loved football, baseball and all sports, especially his Denver Broncos and the San Antonio Spurs. 

Ted served at the Youth Center of Atchison for over thirty years as a cottage parent and assistant to the administrator.

He was a member of St. Benedict Parish. 

Survivors include three sons, Curtis Kelly, Sioux Falls, SD, Christopher Kelly, Atchison, KS, Steve Everage, Atchison, KS, and two daughters, Arthine Kelly, Topeka, KS, Sherri Kelly, Topeka, KS, his former wife Alberta Kelly, Atchison, KS, two grandchildren, Ebony N. Knott, Shayla J. Sneller, a great granddaughter Stormy A. Knott, a niece Gwendolyn Davis, Leavenworth, KS and a host of other nieces and nephews and a friend, Judy Ledell.

Ted was preceded in death by a son, Mark R. Kelly, two sisters, Lettie Mae Dysart and Margaret Tolson and three brothers, Kenneth, John, and Carl.
