Dale Henry Mellies, 84, of Holton, KS passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born May 24, 1934 in Morganville, KS, the son of John Carl and Nettie (Liby) Mellies.

          Dale graduated from Holton High School. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve for 12 years and was a former member of the Rolling W in Holton.

          Dale sold and shipped produce for Gamble Robinson in Topeka, was a farmer in Circleville, worked for Quality Oil and was a road grader for Jackson County. Dale later retired from KPL as a meter reader.

          He married Bette A. Frost on December 4, 1954 in Hill City, KS. She preceded him in death on January 9, 1993. He was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Brenda Twombly in 1999 and Sue Claycamp in 2006; a son, Larry Mellies in 2003; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma Plankinton and Justin Foote, Jr; 2 sisters, Delyte Moran and Mandy Lee Clark and 2 brothers, Ralph and Lee Mellies.

          Survivors include a daughter, Karen Savage of Mayetta, KS; a sister, Donna Welborn; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

          Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Circleville Cemetery.
