Mary H. Keegan, 99, of Axtell, Kan., died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Life Care Center of Seneca.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell.

A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 5 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery.

Mary was born May 20, 1919, at St. Bridget, Kan., the daughter of Bernard and Wilhelmina (Hunninghake) Sunnenberg. She attended school in Seneca.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Guild, Axtell.

On July 4, 1944, she married Glen G. Keegan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville, Kan.

Mary was librarian at the Axtell City Library from 1980–1998. She especially enjoyed the summer reading programs held for the children.

Survivors include husband, Glen; son, Glen Ronald (Somjai), Topeka; daughters, Paulette (Ken) Haug, Salida, Col., Maureen Hendrix and Sheryl Keegan, both of Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers Clem, Ben, Harry, Tony, Ted, Herman and Frank Sunnenberg; and six sisters, Anna Gockel, Josephine VanWinklin, Cecilia Baker, Emerentina Becker, Adelaide Minton and Agatha Sanders.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church and sent in care of the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home.
