Eileen Ann Swanson, 75, of Frankfort, Kan., joined her savior in heaven on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 7 from 6 to 8 PM at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 8 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Father Daniel Schmitz will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery near Axtell, Kan.

Eileen was born November 25, 1942 in Axtell, to Benedict and Marcella (Stallbaumer) Rottinghaus and was raised on the family farm. In 1960, she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Benedict, Kan. She then graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital, School of Nursing, with her Registered Nursing Degree and Benedictine College with Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Education.

She dedicated 55 years caring for others through an incredible nursing career, while receiving numerous awards along the way. Eileen also spent many years teaching alongside her nursing. She enjoyed working not only in her nursing career but also on her farm, with her animals, and had a wonderful green thumb for gardening. Her greatest passion in life though was the love she had for her family and the time she spent with them. All that knew her know her great love for her grandchildren and how she cherished her time with them.

On February 10, 1968, she married Terry Swanson in Manhattan, Kan. They had just recently celebrated their 50 years of marriage together.

Survivors include husband, Terry Swanson, Frankfort; three children, Mark (Julie) Swanson, Abilene, Kan., John (Helen) Swanson, Odell, Neb., and Dr. Michelle (Brian) Stone, Platte City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Emily, Nicholas, Madeline, Chase, Lilly, Lauren, and Addison; sisters, Vera (Mel) Mulder, Fruita, Colo., Evelyn (Allen) Murfin, Holly Ranch Lake, Tex., and twin sister, Irene (Joe) Malone, Oskaloosa, Kan.; brother, Mark Rottinghaus, Farmington, Mo; and also wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Edward.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
