Seneca, KS

Mafina “Fina” Nolia Pafuti Seva’aetasi-Droge, 70, of Seneca, lost her battle against breast cancer on May 23, 2018, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Fina was born on April 22, 1948, in America Samoa to Tago Robert Seva’aetasi and Siuila Solomona-Seva’aetasi. One of 13 children in the Seva’aetasi family, Fina spent most of her childhood years in Hawaii, until the family returned to American Samoa in the ’60s. After high school, she made her way to California, where, in 1976, she and her then husband, Doug Droge, welcomed triplets to their family. It was during those years that Fina also played in a women’s professional softball league.

After her children graduated from high school, Fina pursued a career as an EMT, a position she held from 1996 until she retired in 2015. During that time, she served as President (2004-2005), training officer (1997-2005), and dispatch liaison (1997-1998), as well as a member of the Haz-Mat (1998, 2003-2005), Mass Casualty (1998-2000, 2002-2003), Pancake Breakfast (1999-2005), and Food and Entertainment (1996) committees. She also worked as a Sheriff Dispatcher from 1996-2000 and in surveillance with Sac and Fox Casino for many years. The camaraderie in each job is what Fina valued most.

During her free time, Fina enjoyed annual trips to Samoa, countless hours of fishing, playing and coaching softball, collecting historical Polynesian weapons, watching movies, and spending time with her three children, seven grandchildren, family across the nation, and great friends.

Fina is survived by her son, Benjamin Droge of Ozawkie Kansas; her daughter, Betsy Droge of Topeka; seven grandchildren; and her siblings, Tago Seva’aetasi, Tuala Seva’aetasi, Line Scanlan, the Rev. Sekuini Seva’aetasi, Tupua Seva’aetasi, Robert Seva’aetasi, Merita Leleua, Aunese Seva’aetasi, and Rebecca Seva’aetasi Ata.
