Doris Jeanne (Bareiss) Coffman Young, 93, of Augusta, KS, formerly of Holton, KS, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Andover Courts in Andover, KS. She was born April 19, 1925 on a farm north of Holton; the daughter of E.G. and Ruby (Cramer) Bareiss. She attended Lone Star and Columbia Country Schools and attended Colorado Grade School in Holton. She graduated from Holton High School in May of 1942.

Doris married Dale E. Coffman on June 30, 1948. He passed away June 12, 1990. She married Francis A. Young on August 3, 1996. He passed away December 19, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a step-son, Steve Young.

Doris worked for Hinnen’s Grocery Store, Gossip Printing, Ben Franklin, Russel Variety Store and was a homemaker all in Holton.  In the 1950’s; she also worked in the Jackson County Probate Office as a deputy and was later appointed to the office of Probate Judge, including performing many weddings.

She was a life-time member of Evangel United Methodist Church, a member of the Kings Daughters and Sunday School Class; as well as Chapter “P” of the P.E.O., the Tourist Club, and the Beck-Bookman Library.  She was also a member of Holton Business Women, Holton Hospital Auxiliary, Holton Planning Board and Holton Cemetery Board.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa A. Rowell of Andover, KS and grandsons Adam (Jessica) Rowell and Seth Rowell; 2 step-sons, Doug (Kim) Young of Topeka, KS, Greg (Terri) Young of Holton, KS; a step-daughter-in-law, Marilyn Young of Topeka, KS; step-grandchildren, Kelly (Jeremy) Schell, Dawn (Brian) Koths, Chris (Alex) Young, Brittany Young, Breann (Andrew) Hinman, Donovan (Kelli) Young; great-grandchild, Riley Grace Rowell and step-great- grandchildren, Loren Baldwin, Lila, Hank, Theo, Lawson Young and Brooklyn, Kellan and Kayden Hinman.     

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
