John S. Humm, 84 years of age, of Falls City, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Falls City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Falls City. He was born on August 13, 1933 in Falls City to Robert and Alma (Hey) Humm. John attended Falls City Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Falls City. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. John was stationed at Fort Smith, Arkansas and lived and worked there for some years after being discharged. After returning to Falls City in 1962, John worked in the grocery business owning and operating Humm’s Market for many years. He was well known by many people in town for his store. John was hard working and loved and cared for his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and enjoyed his plants and flowers.

John is survived by his siblings, Bob Humm of Lakewood, Washington, Katherine Cox and husband Monty of Papillion, Jim Humm of Dawson, Charles Humm of Rulo, Margie Cook and husband Larry of Plattsmouth, Mary Wenz and husband Leon, Patty Simmonds and husband Francis, both of Falls City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Whitten, Sr. Mary Alma Humm, Carol Marteny; and brothers, Richard Humm and Fred Humm.

Private Memorial Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Steele Cemetery near Falls City with Father Thomas Dunavan officiating. A register book will be available to sign from 10 AM to 8 PM Friday, June 29, 2018 at Hall Funeral Chapel in Falls City. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is suggested to the family’s choice in care of the funeral home. Hall Funeral Chapel in Falls City in charge of arrangements.
