Margaret Buessing

Margaret Christine Buessing, 96 of Baileyville, KS passed away peacefully July 7,2018 at the Life Care Center in Seneca, KS.  

Margaret was born January 23, 1922 at the family homestead of Frank and Mary Strathman Haug southwest of Baileyville, KS, the fifth of ten children. She attended school at Sacred Heart in Baileyville.  She stayed to assist on the family farm after 8th grade graduation until she was married; losing her father to a thrashing accident at the age of 13.

On August 9, 1944, she married William J. (Bill) Buessing at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville.  He died on September 9, 2009. She was a homemaker and helped with the milking on their dairy farm northeast of Baileyville.  She had a great joy and love for her family. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery work, playing cards and was well known for making pies for family and friends.

Margaret was a woman of strong Catholic faith and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville, the Altar Society and Quilt club. She donated numerous quilts to the church picnic. Encouraging her children always in 4-H which she was a leader of the Baileyville Skyliner’s, she assisted them in all their projects.
 
Margaret is survived by her seven children: Janice (Leroy) Skoch of Wildwood, MO, Richard (Kathy) Buessing and Maurice (Linda) Buessing both of Axtell, KS, Dottie (Mark) Deters and Vern (Karen) Buessing both of Baileyville, KS, Wilma (Wade) Malone of Emporia, KS, Arlene (Steve) Johnson of Arkansas City, KS; 23 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosella Kohake of Seneca, KS, Sr Laura Haug OSB of Atchison, KS, and Cleta Weitharn of Clay Center, KS.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Cletus; and sisters, Veronica Macke, Sr Cleta Haug OSB and Marie Roeder.

Rosaries will be held 2 and 7 P.M. Monday at the Lauer Funeral home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Reginald Saldanha on Tuesday July 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.at the Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Burial will follow at the Baileyville Catholic Cemetery.
