Glen M. Lippold, 96, of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Premier Estates of Pawnee City.  He was born on November 19, 1921 to Charles and Ethel (Overmyer) Lippold in Texarkana, Texas.  Glen moved with his family from Texas to Lincoln, Nebraska when he was 5 years old, there he attended grade school at Belmont School and  Teachers Collage High School up until the 10th grade when he had to quit to go to work to help support his family.  He worked various jobs before he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942-1946.  During World War II Glen was in the 83rd Quarter Master Car Platoon and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre  Company.  He was awarded two bronze stars, a good conduct medal with a ranking of Staff Sargent and an Honorable Discharge.

Glen returned from the service to begin working in Lincoln where he met his wife to be.  They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Glen married Betty Peters on February 14, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church in Phoenix.

They returned to Nebraska in 1948 and lived in Beatrice, Nebraska with Glen working at Store Kraft for one year.  They decided to make their home in Elk Creek, where Glen worked at Beethe Bros as a mechanic until he purchased his own business in 1959.  Glen’s Repair remained open until Glen’s retirement in 1994.

In 2005 Glen and Betty moved to Pawnee City to be closer to family.

Glen was never at a loss for words, he always had a nick name for everyone.  We would wonder where he would come up with some of them and his comment was, “I calls them like I sees them!” He was the “best’ in many ways but his quips were his forte!

Glen was 63 year member of the American Legion Post #370, Elk Creek, Nebraska and the oldest member and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

Glen was preceded in death by his wife Betty (of 69 years), his parents, brother, Charlie, sisters, Ruth, Grace, Dorothy and Elsie and their spouses, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elda and Bill Peters, brothers-in-law, LeRoy Peters, Harry Rottman and Paul Jeffrey.
