Darrel Huettner, 81, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 26, 2018 at Falls City. He was born November 10, 1936 at Shubert, NE to William and Agusta (Koso) Huettner. 

He served with the Nebraska National Guard, Company B, 134th Infantry at Falls City from 1955 to 1969.

He married Elizabeth Steinman on July 25, 1963 at Zion United Church of Christ, northeast of Falls City.

Darrel was raised in rural Falls City and attended District 27 rural school otherwise known as the Fischer School. Following his schooling he farmed and then moved to Farmington, NM to work in the oil fields. He returned to Falls City and worked for the James Family and also for Boher Brothers Construction and Mr. Automotive. He started working for Farm and City in 1983, retiring in 2014. He was confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church by Hans Biedenweg and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. He was a past City Park Board member and had served on the Krumme Arboretum working committee.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Falls City, sons, Mark and his wife Heather of Overland Park, KS, David of Omaha, daughter, Julie Brooke of Colorado Springs, CO, brother, Ralph and his wife Pam of Falls City, sister, Peggy Aue of Erie, CO, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Loren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Zion United Church of Christ with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral.

The family prefers memorials to family choice for later designation.
