Howard E. Vice, 90, of Falls City, Nebraska was born on December 5, 1927 in rural Shubert, Nebraska.  He was one of ten children born to Glenn and Gladys (Ramsey) Vice.  Howard grew up with his family in the Shubert area and attended Hazel Dell country school through the 8th grade.  As a young man he enjoyed go-cart racing and coyote hunting with his brothers.  At the age of 17, Howard joined the U.S. Air Force and honorably served his country during World War II from 1945-1947.  Upon his return home he enlisted in the U.S. Reserves during the Korean Conflict serving in the reserves until 1949.
 
Howard worked many jobs over the years.  He was a Marshall for Richardson County, worked on oil rigs across the country all the way to Canada, built Power Plants, and many other jobs not mentioned.  Howard was a life-long member of the VFW in Shubert and he was currently attending the Good News Assembly of God Church in Falls City.  He also loved to go dancing.  You could bet if there was a dance within 50 miles, you would probably find him there. 

 Howard passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Falls City Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the age of ninety years, eight months, and thirteen days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Wilda (Frances) Halligan, Darlene Bednorzes, and Glady Mae (Leon) Lundy, and brother-in-law LaVern Meyerkorth.

 Howard is survived by his life partner Norma Furnas of Falls City, NE; children: Jerry (Cathy) Havens of Buckeye, AZ; Mel (Dave) Lambert of Kenney, IL; Kevin (Tammy) Vice of Highlandville, MO; Rodney Vice, Greg (Chris) Vice, and Brenda Schulenberg all of Falls City, NE; 2 step children: Mike (Donna) Graden of Plano, TX; Pam (Daryl) Kuker of Dodge City, KS; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Glenn (Maurine) Vice of rural Shubert, NE; Donald (Shirley) Vice of Stella, NE; Rolland (Iris) Vice of Stella, NE; Ted (Colleen) Vice of Omaha, NE; Leland (La Reine) Vice of rural Shubert, NE; a sister Lila Meyerkorth of rural Shubert, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at The Good News Assembly of God Church in Falls City, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating.  Full military honors will be conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.

 Private Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Harris Cemetery in Barada, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
