Ida A. Richardson, 96, Atchison, Kansas, died Wednesday, September 11, 2018, at Brookdale Rosehill Assisted Living in Shawnee, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Fr. Jeremy Heppler as celebrant.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Benedictine College or Mount St. Scholastica and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Ida was born August 6, 1922, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Rose (VanBenthem) Swiderski.  She attended Sacred Heart Grade School graduating from Mount St. Scholastica Academy. Following graduation she attended Mount St. Scholastica College.

She and J. Wayne Richardson were united in marriage on November 15, 1947. Mr. Richardson preceded her in death on March 18, 2006.

Prior to marriage Ida was employed with Exchange Bank. She later went to work as a receptionist in Dr. Charles Brady’s office.

She was a member of St. Benedict Parish, attending mass at St. Joseph’s Church. Ida was a member of the Altar Society and was very active within the church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, needle point and watching gameshows. She loved golf, not playing but watching. The Royals and Chiefs provided her with much entertainment as the family has been Chiefs season ticket holders since 1979.

Survivors include two sons, George (Debbie) Richardson, Shawnee, KS, Charles (Sidonie) Richardson, Albuquerque, NM, three daughters, Jeanette Richardson, House Springs, MO, Joan (Richard) Lynch, Shawnee, KS, Nancy Richardson, San Antonio, TX, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Lynch, Jr., a brother, William Swiderski, and two sisters, Rosemary Weisz and Helen Schloer.
