Donna Jewell-Simpson

Donna Lee Jewell-Simpson, 77, of Emporia, KS, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at her home. She was born November 1, 1940 in Holton, KS the daughter of Floyd Herbert and Martha Lucille (Titus) Daily.

Donna graduated from Netawaka High School in 1959. She had lived in Emporia since 2003 and formerly lived in Whiting, Hiawatha. She worked for Flairfold Manufacturing in Hiawatha; retiring after 18 years.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. Donna enjoyed mowing, planting flowers, embroidering, puzzles and her family.

She married William Harrison Jewell, Sr. in 1958; he preceded her in death in 1964. She married James J. Jewell, he preceded her in death in 2008. She married James Robert Simpson on December 20, 1992; he preceded her in death on June 20, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents a sister, Delores Clark and 3 brother, Jack, Harold and Don Daily.

Survivors include her children, William H. Jewell (Eileen) of Mayetta, KS, Charlotte M. Pinick (Paul) of Emporia, KS and Clarence D. Jewell of Ottawa, KS; 3 step-children, Tami Simpson of Hiawatha, KS, Travis Simpson of Lawrence, KS and Jami Hodge (Jeremy) of Hiawatha, KS; 5 sisters, Lucille McDonald of Texas, Elizabeth Conner (Charlie) of Yuma, AZ, Martha McCormick (Les) of Frankfort, MO, Elsie Stafford of York, PA and Diane Kingslee of Texas; 3 brothers, Ed Daily (Joyce) of Netawaka, KS, Charles Daily of CA and Pete Daily (Karen) of St. John, KS; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Sparks Cemetery (east of Highland). Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
