David Lee “Jess” Rogers, 67, of Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He was born on July 7, 1951 to Leonard and Blanche (Hunzeker) Rogers in Pawnee City, Nebraska.

Jess grew up in Pawnee County and attended District 13-Kennedy School and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1969.  Jess did attend UNL and was a member of Agmen at UNL. Jess farmed all his life outside of Pawnee City with his brother. He did work at Klepper Oil in DuBois, when they needed a little extra help.

Jess was a member of the Pawnee City High School Alumni Association and was an officer. He was member of the Pawnee Rural Fire District, where he was secretary/Treasurer, member of Jaycees, Pawnee County Ag Society and former trustee and session member for the Presbyterian Church in Pawnee City. 

Jess was well known in the community and will be missed.

Jess liked to play cards, was a Black Powder Enthusiast and enjoyed many trips to Colorado with his friends Black Powder hunting.

Jess was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Blanche Rogers.

He is survived by his brothers, John (Gail) Rogers of Milwaukee, WI, Paul Rogers of Pawnee City, NE, sister, Patricia Rogers of Bradenton, FL, aunts, Emaleen Rogers, Mildred Bloss and uncle, Lloyd Hunzeker, Aunt Dolly, nieces and nephews, Emily Rogers of Chicago, IL, Katherine (Rogers) and husband Dan Russell, great nieces, Callie and Mia Russell, Evan Rogers and Erin of Madison, WI, great nieces Bea and Ella Rogers, several cousins and friends.

Memorial services 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church/Christian Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska with Rev. Duane Westing officiating. Visitation on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Inurnment will be in the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Pawnee City Volunteer Fire Department (PCVFD) or to Donors choice.  Online condolences may be left at www.wherrymortuary.com.
